Make Your Yes, Yes, or No, No

This Thanksgiving week, Shawn Reese gives us the message. It was very easy to understand, so I want to share it here.
Question: Do we need to take an Oath?
The bible says, "do not swear an oath at all" Matthew 5:34
Answer: When we make promises, we say "I promise I'll take you to the game this weekend."
When we make oath, we say "I promise in the name of Jesus I'll take you to the game this weekend."
There is no need to make an oath, you should just do it. But in today's society, people don't trust each other, and oath is the way to get around it. So we make an oath when asked, but we don't necessary need to take an oath.

"We never more like God than when we keep our promises."
